Senior Strong

by Ainsley Slade| Class of 2022 | Nov. 21, 2019

The Hudson High School Girls Golf Team, coached by high school business teacher Jeff Curley, had a nine-hole average of 221.80 and an 18 hole average of 431.67.

As a 2019 state qualifier, Abby Gaudian finished state 24th out of 79 with an overall score of 190 over two days. Gaudian also earned the 2019 2nd Team All-State honors by the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association. Now a senior, Gaudian is one to look out for this season.

Another player to watch is senior Klaire Krapfl. Since her freshman year, Krapfl has helped lead the team and regularly shoots low scores. She has consistently had second-place finishes and often comes in first, as well.

The majority of this coming season’s lineup will be returning, experienced players with seniors Ellie Brown, Brooke Busch, Abby Gaudian, Klaire Krapfl, junior Halle Haack, and sophomore Ashlyn Reynolds. Last year, the upperclassmen stepped up to lead and experienced tremendous improvement. They brought in some of Hudson’s lowest scores with a 31-16 record.

This season, the girls are striving to obtain the conference title and hope to advance to state as a team.

Coach Jeff Curley says, “Balance and experience make the team stronger,” and the seniors have proved that.
