In the Spotlight: Show Choir Season Begins

   After putting in over 100 hours of practice combined, both First Edition and Premiere Edition are ready to kick off their 2018 show choir seasons.

   High school’s First Edition will start their season with a public performance on Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Their set includes songs “I’m Free (Heaven Helps The Man)” from Footloose, a spiritual piece called “Save the People,” “Beautiful City” from Godspell, and “Blow, Gabriel, Blow,” from Anything Goes.Their first competition will take place at the State Show Choir Festival on Jan. 29 in Marshalltown. Their second competition will be at The West Liberty Stars on Stage Show Feb. 3. Their third and final competition of the season will 

be at the Benton Touch of Class on Feb. 10.

   The junior high’s Premiere Edition will have their first performance Jan. 20 at Dallas Center Grimes. They will also perform on Feb. 16 at Indianola High School and Feb. 24 at Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School. Their set includes the 1950s hit "Do Wah Diddy Diddy," a ballad from Disney’s Tarzan called "You'll be in my Heart," and the title song title from Footloose.

   Both choirs will end their season with this year’s Fill The Aud on March 8 at 7 p.m. in the Hudson High School Auditorium.
